what does customer services offer?


The City Council has developed a dedicated Customer Service Centre to deal with customers' telephone and written enquiries efficiently and with the minimum of fuss. It has been awarded the government's Charter Mark for customer service excellence in recognition of its high quality service.

The Centre currently handles approximately 400,000 telephone calls and 6,000 letters, emails and faxes per year. By 2010 the centre will handle enquiries for 43 council services.
The Centre is available to receive telephone enquiries between 08.30am and 08.00pm weekdays. The numbers to ring for service requests and general enquiries are as follows:

922 2222 - Council Housing repairs & Maintenence
922 3838 - Collection of bulky house hold waste
Reporting of dumped rubbish/fly tipping
Reporting of graffiti
Reporting of abandoned vehicles
Refuse Collection (including kitchen and garden waste collections)
Street cleansing
Public toilets
Street lighting
Roads, pavements and street drain defects
903 1221 - Recycling
922 2241 - Drug & sex litter hotline
922 3807 - Food safety
922 3810 - Pollution control
922 3388 - Health & Safety at work
922 3089 - Travel card scheme
