Success on Claremont Street!

Claremont St
Do you recognise this famous grot spot? Hopefully not any more. A joint effort between Grounds4Change, SITA and the Parks Department has given Claremont Street (near the Stapleton Rd/Easton Way junction) a new look. First of all SITA removed 5 tonnes of fly tipped rubbish and sent the Drugs and Sex litter team in to sweep the area. Then the Parks Department brought Grounds4Change in to clear out the undergrowth, remove a further 4 tonnes of rubbish, plant up a new hedge and grass seed.

The Environment Officer for Easton and Lawrence Hill said,'Action was taken after a group of residents and agencies held a walkabout in November to identify the areas in need of attention. There was also a survey of residents to make sure we listened to the views of local people. They wanted to keep the trees, remove the overgrowth but have a neat hedge planted that would deter people from climbing over the fences at the back of the properties.'

The positive reaction from the community has been immediate. To read the positive comments check out the Gounds4Change website: www.grounds4change.co.uk/category/news.
